Over the next few weeks, they will be introducing the artists whose work is included in the Bigger Picture Gallery’s new show, “Founders & Friends”.
Introducing Daniel Martin
Daniel’s work deals with themes of identity, humanity and self-evaluation. He paints directly onto canvas resulting in works that are expressive and spontaneous, with a subject matter that is striking and reflective. Lucian Freud is a particular inspiration, which can be seen in his animated and textured brushwork.
The painting “Revelation” (which is loosely based on Rodin’s The Thinker) shows a girl holding pages from Revelations. The subject sits in deep contemplation, seemingly oblivious to the bird flapping beside her. This is not a religious take on morality but a statement of humanity pondering death.
About Bigger Picture Gallery
By making art accessible to the community and residents of the district and bringing artists together we will assist in sustaining a significant arts movement and hope to return our local area to the cultural destination that it once was. We are providing a network for individuals who often work in isolation to interact and share ideas.
By helping to keep the high street alive during difficult economic times we are assisting property owners to display premises in their most favourable light and improving the street scene.
