After a relaxing summer break, Crystal Palace Pictures are back and rearing to go with an exciting new season of films. We start this Thursday at 7.30pm at [qype id="75114"] with last year’s brilliant, Bafta winning Moon.
Sam (Sam Rockwell) is an engineer coming to the end of his 3-year solo stint on the Moon. His only companion is his talking computer Gerty (Kevin Spacey) and the occasional videos from his family back on earth. When a malfunction on the base leads to an accident, Sam wakes up in the infirmary to discover that things are not as he thought they were. Including himself.
Moon is a low-key, high-brow psychological and philosophical thriller. More akin to Solaris and 2001 than the rebooted Star Trek, it plays with our notions of ethical acceptability and the nature of reality. Writer/ director Duncan Jones won the 2010 Bafta for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer.
We’ll also show a short film called ‘Vacant Possession’. Director Rob MacGillivray will join us to introduce and answer any questions you have about his new film.
See you Thursday for a great night. Tickets are £5 on the door.
